Sampling in Drum & Bass – Feature on Organic Beats Blog with some words from Fracture

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

fracturesrecords

What’s up peeps? Just a little heads up on a feature on the Organic Beats website focusing on the art sampling, specifically within the D&B scene. As you know we are huge fans of sampling and samplers so when Kam Sandhu asked me if I wanted to shed some light on the subject, how could i refuse! So she transcribed while I waffled, poor girl. I did have to make her a coffee though, I was most put out.

Check out the feature here http://organicbeats.co.uk/blog/sampling/

Astrophonica is 1 year old!

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Wow, time has really caught up with us at Astrophonica and we have been so busy with stuff that we only just realised that as of 21st Sept we are 1 year old! It has flown by! Thinking back a year to a vague idea of starting a label so we could at least release a tune that we loved, Clissold, to the recognition and anticipation our releases now have brings a tear to our eyes! We are full steam ahead now! So thanks so much to everyone for making a great and inspiring year. Much more to come.

All together now… HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASTROPHONICA!!!!!!

Fracture, Skitty & Nolige in the studio – Astrophonica Vs Foundation X

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Astrophonica met Foundation X last weekend in Wolverhampton for a marathon session of pure vibes. Foundation X is a label set up by Wolverhampton bad man Skitty and is set to do big things on the underground, taking it back to the roots.

In between BBQ Baby Chicken, Wolverhampton Wanderers wonder-goals (Fracture is an avid fan) and pints of Banks’s Bitter we managed to spend a lot of time in the studio and get something done that we are all very excited about.

Support DJ Flight to replace Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 1

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/djflight/

So Mary Anne Hobbs has left the BBC after an immense career. Her show was amazing and will be missed. So who best to take over? Long time supporter of Fracture & Neptune and Astrophonica, DJ Flight!

Natalie has always been a DJ that we check for. I remember one time we went and saw her play at a now defunct club called ‘Home’ in London and she dropped Danny Breaks’ Aquatica, which at the time no one else was playing. This won her instant Astrophonica approval! Her shows on Rinse FM around the turn of the millenium and then on BBC 1Xtra were always packed full of music from across the board and thoroughly enjoyable.

So get on it and sign the petition for more good music on the FM airwaves!

Beat Mining with the Vinyl Hoover

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Here’s a great little show on record digging by Toby Amies. Features Steinski, Cold Cut and 45 King among others. It’s a seriously good listen and is a subject we are passionate about. I particularly enjoyed the Cold Cut commentary on the Paid In Full remix.

Check it out!
